A 'Swiss' Badminton Tournament analysis
A club night lasts 2 Hours and we have 4 courts, can we play a mini-tournament in that time. Also club players prefer to have close games, rather than either win easily of get slaughtered all night long!
Try a 'Swiss' tournament. Play a set up to 21 pairs(players) allocated by random draw, record the net point position, order the pairs (players) by net points, then create new matches in order from the top, skipping over matches that have already been played. Add the net points from these matches, re-order and repeat. The rest of these slides present analysis of such a tournament - generated at random as the deck starts.

Seems to work we get:
Pretty good ranking with a smaller number of games
quite a few games are close
Every point matters encourages pairs (players) to keep trying even in a lost match
Occasionally we get a repeat match at the bottom of the draw - top focused sorry!
